In July 2025, MAKEEN Energy launched a new Project Management Office (PMO). This strategic step takes our long-standing project expertise to the next level, strengthening how we manage complex projects, handle contracts, and create value for our customers through greater consistency, alignment, and professionalism. Already now, the changes are evident.
From our headquarters in Randers, Denmark, Jonas Wittrup Jensen has assumed the role of spearheading this new function. Jonas’s many years in project management roles in large organisations, most recently as the head of project management in MAKEEN EnviroTech, have given him deep insight into the importance of attention to detail and professionalism required in managing large-scale projects.
In his new role as Director of PMO and Contract Management, Jonas’ goal is to make sure our global project management team has all the latest tools and skills to succeed in their job.
It’s not a change of direction, but a sharpening of our focus. The PMO is about building on what we already do well and ensuring that we keep improving the way we manage and deliver projects for our customers.
A stronger foundation for every project
The idea for the PMO grew from a wish to bring renewed focus to project management and contract handling. These two areas have always been central to MAKEEN Energy’s success. What the PMO does differently is make sure that the day-to-day operational demands do not take focus away from developing new frameworks and long-term improvements. The PMO specifically dedicates resources to strengthening our overall project and contract management capabilities.

“The goal is to support our project managers and sales teams with clear standards, effective tools, and strong processes,” Jonas explains. “When we handle every step professionally, from tender and negotiation to execution and handover, it benefits both us and our customers.”
Clarity builds trust
Contracts are more than legal documents – They’re the shared foundation for the entire project relationship. By improving our contract management processes, we aim to make that foundation even stronger and more transparent.
“It’s not just an advantage for us,” Jonas says. “It’s also in the customer’s interest that everything is clearly described and agreed upon. That clarity helps us avoid disputes and ensures everyone knows what to expect, whether it’s timelines, scope, or responsibilities.”

The PMO also supports project teams in handling complex tenders, advising on contractual matters during negotiations, and ensuring consistent standards across all projects. Together, these efforts strengthen trust and predictability, both internally and externally.
Building competence and consistency
Under Jonas’s leadership, the PMO is developing initiatives that help our project management and sales teams around the world grow their skills and align their practices. This includes training in MAKEEN Energy’s own project model, which ensures that project teams everywhere work with the same understanding and approach.
“We’ve already started training sessions and seminars to deepen our shared knowledge,” Jonas says. “It’s not enough just to be aware of the model. We want people to use it actively, so our methods and decisions are consistent across all projects.”
The PMO is also introducing new tools for risk management, project dashboards, and lessons learned workshops, all designed to help teams make decisions based on data, not gut feeling. For example, dashboards developed in Power BI now provide a clear visual overview of key metrics such as project cash flow and progress.
A value-driven and agile approach
MAKEEN Energy’s PMO is built around a “value-driven” mindset that focuses on areas that have the greatest immediate impact rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach.
“We don’t want to be a process factory,” Jonas says. “Instead, we identify where the challenges are, prioritise them, and then address them effectively. It’s about finding the low-hanging fruit. The changes that can make a real difference right now.”
While Jonas focuses on governance and competence-building, Lars Poulsen, Head of Project Management, continues to lead the operational execution of projects. The two work closely together to ensure the PMO’s frameworks and initiatives are a beneficial support to the day-to-day project delivery – not a weight that slows it down.
“We want to be supportive, not controlling,” Jonas adds. “Our role is to create direction and provide the tools people need, but we must also take care that we follow our processes properly. That’s how we keep improving while staying agile.”
Continuous improvement, shared benefits
To ensure every improvement leads to real progress, the PMO continuously reviews feedback from project teams and management. These insights are prioritised and translated into actions that support MAKEEN Energy’s S30 strategy and OKR (Objectives and Key Results) framework.
Lessons learned play a key role in this, with workshops capturing both successes and areas for improvement. This effort is a part of our strategic goals of Continuous Improvement. “We’re not only focusing on what went wrong,” Jonas says. “We also want to highlight what went right so we can repeat it.”
Looking ahead
The PMO was established earlier this year, and its initiatives are already taking shape, from training programmes to risk management tools. Looking ahead, Jonas envisions a MAKEEN Energy where large and complex projects are handled with the same efficiency and confidence as the smaller ones.
“Our mission is to ensure that we can take on larger project scopes and deliver them efficiently, without compromising on quality or profitability,” he says. “As we continue to improve and grow, our customers will experience smoother projects, clearer communication, and stronger collaboration on every single project.”
Strong project management is central to MAKEEN Energy’s future. The Project Management Office reinforces our ability to deliver complex projects with precision and consistency, and that’s good news for our customers.
The PMO in brief:
- Strengthens project and contract management capabilities across MAKEEN Energy
- Supports project managers through training, standards, and tools
- Enhances risk management and knowledge sharing
- Builds consistency and transparency from sales to delivery
