Customer Support in action:

Rui's story in Customer Support

One of our key strengths is our core philosophy – Wherever you are, we are. For the past 10 years, Rui Brito has been a Service Supervisor in Customer Support with MAKEEN Energy Portugal. Rui has travelled far and wide, gaining countless stories along the way.

A decade of dedication

Driven by his passion for the job, Rui thrives on meeting customers in their local environments. Whether working with large facilities or small-scale projects, Rui always understands the crucial importance of doing his job right, as gas cylinders are an essential part of daily life in many places in the world.

Communication is key

His experiences have taught him many lessons, and he believes that communication and respect are the key to success in his work.

“The most important thing when I meet a customer,” Rui says, “is to respect the local people and culture, whatever the environment. This is the essential first step. When respect and understanding is established, everything else falls into place, and all the help we need becomes available.”

Rui takes pride in balancing the needs of MAKEEN Energy with those of the customers in his work. Guided by the company’s values and his extensive experience, Rui carries a deep understanding that every country and customer is unique. “Every country and every customer have unique needs, and I make it my mission to help them find the right solutions with respect and communication.”

When a small project makes a big difference

Rui’s travels have taken him many places, introducing him to different people and cultures. Along the way, he’s encountered frogs, snakes, and plenty of other surprises. Yet one project that he will always remember was a project in Cabinda, Angola. It wasn’t the size of the commission or the complexity of the project that left an impression – it was the people.

Rui and his team travelled to Angola in March of 2024. Angola is a country in southwestern Africa where LPG cylinders are an essential part of everyday life and are relied on as a source of energy for daily activities. As Rui puts it “For them being able to fill their gas cylinders, is the equivalent of a water bottle in the desert.”

Rui and his team travelled there to repair two small filling stations that had previously been private. However, these stations were made open to the public. Rui vividly recalls the long queues of people waiting for hours and their happiness and laughter despite the wait, “I will always remember the happiness. We have big projects, but it is the small regions with the small filling posts, that are even more vital for those who rely on them.”

Being able to help people and bridge the gap between MAKEEN Energy and our customers is a proud part of Rui’s jobs and he will continue to endeavour to always put our best foot forward throughout the world as we help our customers, wherever they are.
