With rising demands for a reliable energy source, Nisogas wanted to expand and upgrade their LPG cylinder filling operations, which for many years consisted of a single manual filling machine.

By expanding the filling line from 1 to 6 machines, whilst connecting the filling operation to a digital solution for data collection, Nisogas can efficiently supply the Greek islands with reliable energy.

As a resident of the Aegan islands, a steady energy source is essential to keep the wheels running in everyday life, from cooking to heating. And with the limited options available for islanders, LPG is a great one – efficient and reliable.
Modernising and expanding capacity
Nisogas’ LPG filling plant on Kalymnos is vital for keeping everyday life running smoothly on the island. To keep pace with rising demand, the company decided it was time for an upgrade. What was once a single manual filling machine has now been transformed into a modern, high-capacity setup featuring six fully automatic in-line MPP (MAKEEN Product Programme) filling machines – each equipped with an integrated check scale for precise and consistent filling.
To further strengthen safety, Nisogas also added a fully automatic electronic leak detector to the line. The system instantly identifies and separates any cylinder showing even the slightest sign of leakage, ensuring the highest standards of protection for both operators and customers.
Digital data for smarter operations
But Nisogas didn’t stop at new equipment. They also invested in a digital data collection system: the Industry 4.0 Solution. This technology gives them real-time insights into every step of the filling process. From automated data gathering via the MAKEEN Gateway and remote monitoring to predictive maintenance, the system makes it possible to run operations faster, safer, and with fewer interruptions.
With cloud-based access and a customisable interface, Nisogas now has full control of its production data. In short: the plant operators can keep an eye on performance anytime, anywhere, making sure LPG keeps flowing smoothly to households and businesses across the islands.
