Changing customer relationships

Across the LPG industry, customer relationships are changing. Where the relationship was once often centered mainly on the delivery of equipment (customer and vendor), many customers today are looking for something closer and more collaborative. They want a partner who can contribute with knowledge, guidance, and practical support throughout more of the process.

This development reflects a broader change in expectations. As operations become leaner and more competitive, and investment decisions become more important, customers are increasingly looking for business partners who understand their operations and can help them make the right choices early on. In many cases, that means being part of the conversation long before an order is placed.

Where partnership adds value

That support can take many forms. One customer may ask for help defining tender requirements to make sure the scope is realistic and technically sound. Another may need a partner to train local technicians and strengthen in-house capabilities ahead of a new installation. In other cases, customers look for advice on technical standards, partners to help expand their operations, inspection routines, or the layout of a new filling facility, where early input can help create a stronger foundation for the project.

Seeing the operation more clearly

It also shows in the way customers explore new possibilities. One may want guidance on how different pieces of equipment fit into the wider operation. Another may be looking not just for a product, but for a discussion about how to improve reliability, capacity, or day-to-day handling in the plant.

What is taking shape is a more consultative relationship, where partnership and co-creation play a bigger role. Customers still expect reliable equipment and solid delivery, of course, but they increasingly also value the ability to listen, advise, and help shape the right solution together.

For the LPG industry, this points to a wider shift. The strongest customer relationships are no longer built solely on what is delivered, but also on the quality of the dialogue surrounding it, aligning strategies and goals for the benefit of both parties.
