How did you end up as an intern at MAKEEN Energy?

I was doing research on internships and looked at different places. I think I saw your post on LinkedIn and I just applied. And then I got an interview, so I came here – and you wanted me! I think it took around three weeks between me applying and getting the interview. And then it took another few weeks before I got the position.

What did you do in your internship?

I have been working with the IOT-sensor. Let me try to explain it in a non-technical way.. So with the motors on the production line, there are sensors that measure the vibrations of the motors, with the goal to predict their lifespan. And so I was working on this device – on the sensors. I was doing a lot of tests of the vibrations, and I was also producing scripts to observe the data.

What is it like to be an intern at MAKEEN Energy?

I’ve just had a really great experience with this company – the people and all the socializing and getting to know everyone. I’ve felt very much like I am a part of this place, even though I’m only here for 10 weeks. I’ve also learned a lot in terms of my field. Yeah, I have to say that I’ve learned a lot about electronics and just generally about what I study.

To some extend my studies prepared me for this – I had a lot of experience with the electronics and hardware part, but I also had to study frequency analysis and other theory when I got here – so I’ve definitely also learned new things while being here.

What is the best thing about your internship – and the most challenging?

I guess this will differ based on the person – but for me the best part has been to see what I’m studying in real life. To see what can be done based on what I’m studying - in a real company, in real life - that was the best for me!

The most challenging part of interning here..hmmm..has been to get up at 5:30 in the morning every day (laughs). Just kidding – it actually wasn’t that hard, once I got used to it. Hmm, I think that at the very beginning, it felt that there was a lot that I didn’t know. At the beginning I had to learn a lot, and I guess that this has been a theme throughout the internship – that there has always been more to learn. But this has also been a nice challenge – because I’ve really grown professionally.

What comes after your internship?

Right now I have a few months to work on my final project – then I’m going to study a top-up, and then I will have my bachelor’s degree.

Anything else?

I just really want to encourage everyone to not be put off by the fact that this company is located in Randers. Yes, the distance is there, but this place is really great and you can gain a lot from being here. I have only been here for ten weeks, but the amount of knowledge that I’ve gained is completely priceless. And actually, the commute is not that bad once you get used to it! So it’s worth it!
